NEWPORT, R.I. – In what is turning out to be a lengthy review process, members of the city’s Zoning Board of Review once again heard testimony on behalf of a plan to expand the St. Clare Home on Spring Street last week. No vote was taken on the project, and more witnesses are expected to be called when the board meets again in special session to discuss the project on Thursday, July 15.
The proposal, which has drawn concern from nearby residents as well as several Zoning Board members, is being described as a make-or-break project for the 101-year-old St. Clare Home.
