NEWPORT, R.I. – We’ve been getting a bit of attention of late (which is good since we’ve only been online for less than a month). John McDaid of Portsmouth’s Hard Deadlines wrote this up yesterday. Thanks, John, and to all of you Hard Dealine readers who may have ventured our way recently, Welcome.
So please take a look around, vote in our latest poll, or sign up for our weekly email alerts. We’re glad you found us and hope you come back – frequently.

NEWPORT – We’re not sure what it says about the state of entertainment when the most interesting thing on television is watching guys fish for crab.
Whatever the case, the Discovery Channel’s The Deadliest Catch is a compellingly addictive series, and Capt. Sig Hansen of the Fishing Vessel Northwestern is one of its most magnetic characters.

NEWPORT NOW – Driving into town through the North End, you may have noticed a barrage of cement trucks, front loaders, and hard hats converging on an until-recently vacant lot just off JT Connell Highway.
That’s where Coastal Extreme Brewery, makers of Newport Storm beer and Thomas Tew Rum, have broken ground on their new brewery facility, scheduled to be complete some time
in 2010.
The local brew crew is reporting on the progress on their website, which has gotten off to a quick start, breaking ground just hours after the city issued them a building permit a little more than a week ago.
The new facility is one of only a handful of major construction projects currently underway in the city, and is sure to be a step up for Coastal Extreme, which for the past ten years or so has been operating out of the Middletown Tradesman Center, where its brewing equipment was first set up.
