MIDDLETOWN -- A pair of Middletown men allegedly led police in Portsmouth on a high speed chase on Monday. Both men were arrested and booked on a variety of charges, including eluding police, driving under the influence, and simple assault.
As the Providence Journal reported, Portsmouth police arrested Larry Keiffer, 41, of 17 J.H. Dwyer Rd., and Jeffrey Freeman, 42, of 7 Ludlow Rd. after leading police on a chase which resulted in speeds of over 65 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Keiffer was charged with eluding police, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license and refusal to submit to a chemical test.
Freeman, who was also shot at with a Taser, was charged with simple assault and resisting arrest.
They were scheduled for arraignment in District Court in Newport Tuesday.
