The season of free parking is about to come to an end, as the city has announced the beginning of the “Parking Season” effective May 1 and continuing through Oct. 31, 2013.
According to a press release issued this morning, metered parking will be in effect from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. The fee for parking in a metered space is now $1.25 per hour in increments of twenty-five cents for 12 minutes.
The fee for the Memorial Blvd. meters at Easton’s Beach is $2 per hour. In addition, “Smart meters” that accept credit cards of coins have been implemented city-wide. The Pay & Display unit at the Touro St. lot has been replaced and a new Pay & Display unit has been installed at the Long Wharf lot. The Pay & Display units accept credit cards, bills or coins.
The Gateway Visitor’s Center Parking Lot will be open daily from 8 a.m. – 12 a.m. The Mary St. lotw ill be open Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. – 12 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. – 2 a.m. The basic rate is $2 for the first half hour and $1.50 for each addition half-hour. City residents displaying a valid registration sticker are entitled to three hours of continuous parking per day.
The Residential Parking Program is also in effect from May 1 – Oct. 31. Information concercing residential parking is articulated in Chapter 10.32 of the City’s Code of Ordinances available on the City’s web page.
