(Updated) The Newport Folk Festival came to a soggy end on Sunday, but rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the sold-out crowd who braved cloudy skies to take in some of the most celebrated acts in contemporary folk music at historic Fort Adams.
Saturday's festivities began under blue skies, but ended just before a heavy downpour dropped nearly 3 inches of rain on the island, causing havoc on flooded roads and leaving concertgoers drenched.
The two-day festival, which sold out in record-breaking time earlier this year, featured a string of strong performances from the likes of Deer Tick, Dawes, My Morning Jacket, Iron and Wine, Jackson Browne, The Tallest Man on Earth, and The Head and the Heart, among others.
Here, scenes from the weekend as captured through the lens of NTW photographer, Rob Thorn.
