Play ball! Members of the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association donned their jerseys and gloves at Cardines Field in Newport on Wednesday morning for a youth baseball clinic at the famed ballpark. The Legends for Youth clinic series aims to provide children with positive role models, teach young players baseball fundamentals as well as life lessons, and promote the game of baseball.
Nearly 200 boys and girls, ages 6 – 16, took part in the free clinic on Wednesday, learning some skills from baseball greats and other well-known athletes.
Several MLB Alumni including Joe Morgan, Bill Monboquette, and Mike Roarke coached the young players through a series of drills and stations.
