Athena, the luxury sailing vessel owned by Netscape founder James Clark, pulled into the Newport Shipyard recently. At 295-feet, she's the second largest private sailboat in the world, surpassed only by EOS, a build designed by the late Bill Langan, whose Langan Design is located on Spring Street.
Built by the Royal Huisman boat yard, the three-masted Athena was launched in 2004, and sports a host of luxury amenities including an expansive media lounge, bridge-deck penthouse, dive locker with decompression chamber, library, and expansive networks of outdoor decks.
As far as other eyecatching specs go, she has a beam of 40-ft., draws 18.9-ft, and sports a mast height of just under 193-ft.
