NEWPORT - We hope you got your tickets to this year’s Newport Folk Festival on July 28 & 29 at Fort Adams, because if you didn’t, we’re sorry to tell you that tickets to the iconic festival are sold out.
For the first time in the festival’s history, two-day passes, as well as individual Saturday and Sunday passes sold out three months in advance. NFF producer Jay Sweet said, “This has never happened, not even close.” Tickets went on sale worldwide on March 1, with the last of the 20,000 passes selling on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson for the festival, last’s year’s tickets sold out three and a half weeks before the weekend event and hadn’t had a sellout crowd prior to that.
The good news is that if you didn’t get tickets to the Saturday and Sunday shows, there are still tickets available for a Friday night performance by Wilco inside the fort – the first event of its kind. But act fast, because like the weekend passes, this show is likely to sell out too.
