Made famous by the Harry Potter novels, the once fictitious game of Quidditch has come to life and is coming to Newport on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17-18 at Fort Adams State Park. The historic fort will be the site of the International Quidditch Association’s Northeast Regional Championship, featuring competitive gameplay from 24 teams that hail from colleges around New England and New York.
Matches will go from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. For those who have never seen the game played, two teams of seven players ride flying broomsticks, using four balls and six elevated goals.
Admission is free and food/non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. For more information, visit fortadams.org.
