Trinity Church was founded in 1698, and this rich tradition has been brought into the 21st Century by its pioneering pastor and a team of technology and marketingvolunteers. According to Trinity’s rector, The Rev. Canon Anne Marie Richards, “We’re heading into the future, clicking and praying all the way.”
The centerpiece of this thoroughly modern outreach is a new web site which went live on March 31. The new site, www.TrinityNewport.org features an up-to-date activities listing, program details, archived sermons, some great old photographs and many other state of the art functions.
Among these are social media links to the congregation's Facebook and Twitter feeds.
“What we have created with this new undertaking,” continues Rev. Richards, “is a pathway for members of our community, wherever they may be on life’s journey, to keep in touch with the exciting and dynamic life of our parish.”
The iconic Trinity building, based on a design by Christopher Wren, was constructed in 1726. Its delicate spire dominates Queen Anne Square in the heart of Newport, overlooking the harbor. “We have a prominent place in Newport – literally and figuratively – and this new outreach will enable us to reach even farther” states the Rector.
Rev. Richards added, “When you consider the role that our church has played over 300 years of its presence in Newport – the presidents, the royalty and the many dignitaries who have shared this spiritual space, we are excited and humbled to extend our reach to cyber space.”
