Bruce Lang, a Newport resident and former media executive who founded the watchdog group Operation Clean Government, passed away on Wednesday after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was 76.
Lang, who founded OCG on the heels of the state banking crisis, became a prominent voice in the fight for transparency, open records, and governmental reform.
In my earlier years as a political young buck, I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Mr. Lang on several occassions. Not only was he a consumate professional, but he had a real love for his home state.
Mr. Lang will be missed.
