Thompson Middle School fifth-grader Infinity Jones.
Thompson Middle School fifth-grader Infinity Jones works on her sculpture during Steve Schreiner’s art class Friday.
Mr. Schreiner introduced this sculpture unit to his 5th grade students with a discussion on vertebrates (spinal cords) and the artwork of Alberto Giacometti. Giacometti became renowned for his tall, gaunt, figurative sculptures that were extremely expressive yet simple.
Students constructed their sculptures from wire, foam board, aluminum foil, brown paper towel, glue and metallic acrylic paint.
