Rogers High School students participated in a memorial tree planting on April 27 at Morton Park in the city’s Fifth Ward neighborhood. The tree was planted in memory of Mr. Simpson, who was a former Newport Tree Forester. According to a press release from Newport Public Schools, Mayor Stephen C. Waluk read a proclamation, Scott Wheeler and Scott Dickison also made comments regarding their love of trees, and taught a new generation to be tree lovers, too.
