Students at St. Michael’s Country Day School recently raised over $10,000 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Math-A-Thon. One of America’s largest education based fundraisers, the Math-A-Thon provides a math curriculum supplement that students complete after obtaining sponsorships for each problem they successfully solve.
Surpassing the school’s goal of $9,500 means four faculty members will be getting new haircuts! Music teacher, Art Manchester, history teacher, Tim McMahon, science teacher, Emlen Drayton, and math teacher Ken Hileman all pledged to have their heads shaved at a school assembly if the goal was met. On Thursday, April 19, stylists from area SuperCuts will be on hand to give the gentlemen their buzz cuts as the students cheer them on.
