A request to increase the maximum allowed decibel level at a complex of bars on Waites Wharf has drawn a lively debate among NN readers since we first wrote about the request last week.

Where is the investigation by the staff? Howington is misleading them by remaining silent on this issue.

    Dear Mrs. Another Local,

The poll is unreliable: I voted once in each category to see for myself if it was able to be manipulated. It could easily be you voting over and over. I am not impressed.

If you read my one of my last posts in the article upon which this poll is based you would not so errantly accuse me of being negative, when in fact I suggested perhaps further study was needed and maybe the people around the Lower Thames area had a point. In being so quick to accuse me of ignorance, you have demonstrated your own.

    Good day.

Doesn't matter. You will complain anyway.

  • I originally didn't care...

...because in peak season, it's absolute pandemonium down there anyway, so what's another 10 decibels? Come to find out, an increase of 10 decibels is perceived by the human ear as roughly 100% louder--they are requesting permission to double the volume. Please correct me if I'm misunderstanding the science here, but even as a frequent patron of mid-Thames watering holes, I don't want the music twice as loud. You already have to scream to be heard. If I were a man of God, I would pray for the eardrums of those who live in the Waites Wharf area, because the 1:15AM Mass Exodus is going to be doubly enraging when the boys and girls are shouting twice as loud because they all have Tinnitus.

  • Loving the Poll Results

WOW....84% saying NO? That should calm you down Mr. Sullivan! The "local residents" have spoken and your negative, even ignorant views are not being heard by anyone.
