  • Proposed Changes to Queen Anne's Square

Seems a little like Venturi's design for Franklin Square in Philadelphia -- but not as fitting, really. The so-called seating areas seem awkward. I eliminate them entirely, and, instead, go with benches (with backs) alongside the sidewalk. Suggestion: check out traditional park benches at just about any park in the world.

  • Queen Anne Square

Lovely and sympathetic proposal. Makes a clear connection to the existing buildings and to the visual idea of memory and heritage

  • Queen Anne Square

There is a chimney in the model in the library. Pieter Roos says it is not "functional" . It is out of the question that any form of chimney or fireplace should be anywhere near the 300 year old WOOD Trinity Church --to give any ideas to the " undesirables or wrongdoers" who might be there.!!

  • Queen Anne's Square

About the only think historic about this unneeded makeover is that it will be a historic waste of money. Are there really no more pressing preservation and conservation projects in Newport than this?
