NEWPORT, R.I. – The Newport Folk Festival turns 50 this year. Highlights include Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Arlo Guthry, Elliot Perkins, The Decemberists, and Neko Case.

Tickets for George Wein’s Folk Festival 50 at Fort Adams State Park are available on-line at www.folkfestival50.com, by phone at (800) 514-3849 and by mail. General admission tickets also can be purchased in person at the Visitor’s Center at the Newport County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau located at 23 America’s Cup Avenue in Newport. General Admission seating is first-come first-serve on the lawn. Patrons may bring blankets and low-backed beach chairs. General Admission: Adult: $69.00 in advance, $75.00 on festival weekend, if available.

Parking: Children 3-15: $15.00 each day at all times; under 3, free. Adult Two-Day Passes: A limited number of two-day passes good for admission Saturday and Sunday will be available for $125.00 while they last.

Parking: On site festival parking: $12.00 per vehicle in advance; $15.00 on festival weekend.

Service Charges: Per ticket service charges apply to all tickets purchased on-line or by phone and there is an additional per order charge for phone orders. There is a $4.00 handling charge per order for tickets ordered by mail.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Yoga in the Park takes place on Tuesdays, July 7 – August 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., weather permitting.    Breathing, warm-up, basic postures and relaxation for all levels. Wear comfortable clothes, bring a yoga mat. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class to allow time for parking. Classes are held in the quarry meadow. Use the Hazard Road entrance. NEWPORT, R.I. – The Night Life Orchestra play the Newport Art Museum’s PM Musical Picnic series on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 6 p.m. on the lawn of the museum. Hear favorites from b Big Band to Van Morrison. Bring a blanket and a bite, but leave the pets at home.

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Newport Antiques Show features the country’s leading antiques dealers bringing together the finest examples available in one venue.

The 2009 Loan Exhibit features never before seen Colonial and early American maps from the collection of the Newport Historical Society. The elegant Preview Party on Friday, August 7th from 6pm till 9pm starts the weekend-long Show. The Show itself will take place Saturday, August 8th from 10am to 6pm and Sunday, August 9th from 10am to 5pm.

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Newport Yachting Center continues this summer’s 12th annual Nantucket Nectars Sunset Music Series next week when Guster takes the stage on Friday, Aug. 7.

Special guest will be Rhode Island’s own Fairhaven, with Pete Vendettuoli  taking the smaller Courtyard Stage.  Tickets to the show are $35 for preferred seating and $25 for standard seating and are available online or at the Yachting Center Box Office on 4 Commercial Wharf  in downtown Newport. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the opening act scheduled for 7 p.m. Main act begins at around 8 p.m.
