Legends Take to the Grass for a Chance at the Champions Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. – Legends of the game grace Newport’s International Tennis Hall of Fame August 20-23 at the 2009 Hall of Fame Champions Cup as part of the Outback Champions Series tour.

Eight tennis champions, including Hall of Famers Jim Courier, Mats Wilander and defending Champion Pat Cash will battle it out with Todd Martin, Mark Philippoussis, Wayne Ferreira and Mikael Pernfors on the legendary grass courts for $150,000 in prize money.

Exciting events during the tournament include meet and greets with players, autograph sessions, a kids day clinic, free tennis lessons,  and a Ladies Day on Thursday, Aug. 20th which offers a package with a VIP box seat , $25 off a purchase of $100 or more at the Tennis Hall of Fame Store, a glass of Jonathan Edwards Wine (available on-site), a voucher for two for a free tasting at the Jonathan Edwards Winery in Stonington, CT and a free pair of sandals from Talbots.

The Hall of Fame is also accepting donations of usable tennis racquets to be distributed to youth groups and recreation programs such as the Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis & Education Organization. Racquet donators will receive two complimentary South Stand tickets to the Cup (valid Thursday, August 20 or Friday, August 21).
